Fertilizers Europe (FE) recently published a press release stating that the European fertilizer industry welcomes the European Union's ambition to become climate neutral by 2050. The decarbonisation roadmap of the industry that Brussels has presented establishes an ambitious journey for the sector towards a climate neutral future. With an appropriate legislative framework, investment landscape and collaborative efforts, FE ensures Europe's food security and strategic autonomy for generations to come.

According to Antoine Hoxha, CEO of FE, the real challenge is how to make a successful transition to low-carbon production while remaining globally competitive. As Hoxha recalled, between 2005 and 2020 the European fertilizer industry has already reduced its emissions by 49 percent, making it the least polluting industry worldwide. If we want to be even less polluting, a drastic change in the production process is required, which can only materialize with substantial support from all parties involved and access to affordable, low-carbon and renewable energy.
